Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, it follows the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. How does Rohan face a threat that reaches all the way to the Hornburg? Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the film features Brian Cox and Gaia Wise. Its runtime is 2 hours and 14 minutes, making it a feature-length choice for a dedicated movie night or a visit to Middle-earth between other films in the series. ## Benefits The story centres on an attack led by Wulf, whose pursuit of vengeance puts Helm and his people in danger. As they make a last stand at the Hornburg, Helm’s daughter Héra must find the resolve to lead the resistance. This focus on Rohan’s royal family gives the film its own central conflict while connecting it to a place familiar from the original trilogy: the Hornburg, later known as Helm’s Deep. For viewers choosing between revisiting the original films and exploring a new chapter, this prequel offers a different point in Middle-earth’s history. It traces the events around Helm’s family rather than retelling the trilogy’s central story. That makes it a natural pick for fans interested in Rohan and the history behind Helm’s Deep, as well as for anyone adding another feature to a Lord of the Rings collection. The release also includes three special features: “Return to Helm’s Deep: History Becomes Legend,” “Middle-earth & Anime: A Marriage of Creativity” and “Héra: A New Hero for Middle-earth.” They offer additional material focused on the setting, creative approach and central character. ## What to know The narrative starts with Wulf’s attack and follows the people of Rohan as they take refuge in the ancient stronghold. Héra’s part in the resistance gives the story a clear character-led thread, while Helm’s position as king brings the fate of his family and his people together. The events take place well before those of the original trilogy, so the film explores an earlier period rather than continuing its timeline. Viewers’ comments often highlight the story and animation, and some appreciate how the film adds to the wider Lord of the Rings narrative. Others describe it as a welcome addition to their collection. Opinions on the physical build quality vary, so these impressions are best read as individual viewing and ownership feedback, not as a guarantee of a particular experience. ## Practical tips For a movie night, the feature-length runtime gives you a complete story centred on Rohan, with three listed special features for further viewing afterwards. The plot’s connection to Helm’s Deep also makes it a fitting choice when you want to explore the history of that stronghold, rather than simply return to the events of the original trilogy. If you are building a Middle-earth collection, its place 183 years earlier gives this release a distinct spot in the story’s chronology. ## Is it worth it? This release is especially suited to fans who want more of Rohan’s history, a story built around Helm’s family and Héra’s resistance, or another feature for a Lord of the Rings collection. The 4K Ultra and Blu-ray formats, feature-length runtime and included behind-the-scenes features make it a focused way to spend time with an earlier chapter of Middle-earth. ## Images ![The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4K Ultra Blu-ray — 1](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/D9iOBWXuze-oNBJxw7OOP209vTgnsLeOTz-ukVSbv2eH0MFdumHvP7LK7cMUaJgEgoTsJees0PCVFmJcEyRRKGHpDK5uQQXwnXdSdyZL7cCtvKJ_fBaOrmQ95w.jpg) ![The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4K Ultra Blu-ray — 2](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/fy5C6HZTRUP00hn7IEa7GFwN9wyQun4Ofxorj_fV-zg1CPRehGtvHVgB_tzzZel26INSKIl12potpcCksrNMJz21PYSQFDLZFkZOSQUdSYhSAzuP8mOz5RjZAQ.jpg) ![The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4K Ultra Blu-ray — 3](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/OEI9guVU4gzrQkU1fibEp5LRZTNyEc_4xrsVEkcnBrpRS_upEoFYgdKwqh3IpER-XWBigfmJW_dwE3Tn5z0YDxri05WFvK9bBzfaqjHV20zckS8UOPvcKU3xAw.jpg) ![The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4K Ultra Blu-ray — 4](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/fAcbGs2y_y9g90A0yjAzRt1HjlksbVbqPk4KWr-cVaDn_1OwgfX6WzIZZQo2u3wx4xc0lupSw0I3SyDfbzkWtGvZO7-UstUbR1eibtpPTCPTmspZ_FSt9In41w.jpg) ![The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 4K Ultra Blu-ray — 5](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/awtL0b_ixjsQSKX0lxdNSuf_uD_8Aelw742J_eMl12VsbZvSmmBlgG0Ja9Og4oAei0FliMQZhDrvQCx2V3cA9B_mcxVbEOqoEBuqKN4ZNViFugyr7UwIy0Cf2Q.jpg)
