## Description

Start a Discworld reading journey with The Colour of Magic, identified as the first novel in the series. This paperback edition is a compact book format for reading at home or taking along. Terry Pratchett is listed as the author, and the book’s position makes it easy to choose as a starting point.

## Key takeaways

The Colour of Magic is Discworld Novel 1, and the listing identifies it as Book 1 of 41. That clear series placement is useful if you want to begin with the first book rather than pick a later volume. The paperback format and dimensions of 12.7 x 1.8 x 19.7 cm give you practical details for carrying it or setting it on a bookshelf.

Readers describe the book as humorous, engaging and imaginative, with an enjoyable story and a distinctive fantastical world. Their comments also point to a witty, satirical style. These impressions make it a fitting choice for readers looking for fantasy with humour, rather than a straightforward, purely serious tone. If you’re comparing it with a standalone novel, the key difference is that this title is explicitly positioned as the opening book in a larger series.

## How to use it

Its series number provides a straightforward way to start at the beginning, while its compact listed dimensions are useful when deciding where it will fit in a bag or on a shelf. The publication date is July 9, 2012. The product details give the book’s dimensions as 12.7 x 1.8 x 19.7 cm, so you can use those measurements when planning storage or checking how it fits with other books in your collection.
