## Description

When you want to filter water at a single tap, a point-of-use setup focuses on that one outlet. For a central approach, the PUREPLUS FHN10BB housing is designed for installation on the home’s incoming main water line, where a compatible cartridge can help protect downstream plumbing and appliances. Its pressure gauge makes it easier to monitor the housing as part of that setup.

The blue housing accepts standard 10" x 4.5" cartridges, giving you a choice of cartridge type for your filtration needs.

## Why it’s worth it

A central filter housing can serve several areas of the home from one installation point. Positioned on the main water line, it can help protect downstream pipes and equipment such as water heaters, washing machines, shower heads, water purifiers and wall-hung boilers. That makes it a practical choice when your priority is treating water before it reaches multiple outlets, rather than focusing on one tap.

The included pressure gauge provides a visible way to monitor pressure at the housing. The connection uses a 3/4" NPT port, and the housing’s threaded junction is made of brass. Its food-grade polypropylene construction is designed for pressure and corrosion resistance. For a household setup, these details bring the connection, cartridge and monitoring point together in one central location.

## Highlights

The housing fits standard 10" x 4.5" filter cartridges, including sediment, sediment-and-carbon, pleated and carbon options. This lets you choose a compatible cartridge according to the filtration approach you want: a sediment cartridge, for example, or a carbon-based option. Cartridge choice matters because the housing holds the filter, filtration depends on the cartridge installed.

A typical use is placing the housing on the incoming main line so water passes through the selected cartridge before continuing to household fixtures and appliances. The product is also described with a heavy-duty steel mounting bracket and wrench for installation and cartridge changes. The pressure gauge is useful for checking the housing during normal use, while the red pressure-release valve is used to release pressure before opening the housing to replace a cartridge.

Compared with a setup intended for only one outlet, this whole-house format is suited to a central installation serving multiple downstream points. It’s worth considering if you want to choose among compatible cartridge media while keeping the filtration point on the main supply line.

## Maintenance

Before replacing a cartridge, release pressure through the red pressure valve, then use the wrench to open the housing. Fit a compatible 10" x 4.5" cartridge and secure the housing again. Following this pressure-release step makes cartridge changes part of a clear, practical maintenance routine. The pressure gauge also gives you a convenient point to monitor the system between changes.

## Should you buy it?

Choose the PUREPLUS FHN10BB if you’re planning a whole-house pre-filtration point and want a housing that accepts standard 10" x 4.5" cartridges. Its 3/4" NPT port, pressure gauge and choice of compatible cartridge types support a central setup designed to serve household plumbing and appliances. For homes where the goal is to filter water before it reaches several fixtures, this housing offers a straightforward way to build that system around the cartridge best suited to your needs.
