## Description

For FL Studio producers who want direct, hands-on control while composing and mixing, the Novation FLkey 2 Mini 25 brings key, pad and mix controls together in a compact controller. Its 25 synth-action mini keys help you sketch basslines and melodies. Sixteen velocity-sensitive pads support beat-making, while eight encoders put mix adjustments within reach.

## Key points

Designed for FL Studio, the FLkey 2 Mini 25 gives you practical ways to move between playing notes, building patterns and shaping a track. Use the mini keys to develop musical ideas, then work with the pads for step sequencing in the Channel Rack or finger drumming with FPC, Slicex or Fruity Slicer. This variety of input makes it easier to build a part in the same workflow rather than relying on keys alone.

The eight encoders are mapped to FL Studio controls for tasks such as adjusting levels, sweeping filters and working with effects. Pitch and modulation touch strips add expressive control when playing. An OLED display, Scale and Chord modes, and an arpeggiator round out the hands-on tools, helping you explore progressions and patterns as you create. USB-C connectivity and bus-powered operation keep the setup centred on a USB connection to your computer.

## How to use it

Connect the controller to a PC running Windows and use its FL Studio-focused controls to play instruments, sequence beats, create Patterns and adjust your mix. For a practical session, start with a bassline or melody on the mini keys, build a drum part with the velocity-sensitive pads, then use the encoders to refine levels or effects. The pitch and modulation touch strips give you another way to shape a performance as you play.

Scale and Chord modes can help you develop progressions and melodic ideas directly from the controller, while the arpeggiator offers another route to patterns. FL Studio and HUI are listed as supported software. The package includes the FLkey 2 Mini 25, a USB cable and a safety information sheet. It also comes with six months of FL Studio Producer Edition, plus Novation Play and a selection of instruments and effects from Novation’s partners.

## Getting the most from it

Treat the FLkey as more than a compact keyboard: its value is in moving between musical input and DAW control. A useful workflow is to sketch a phrase on the keys, try a chord idea with the built-in modes, add a beat on the pads, then shape the mix with the encoders. That approach suits quick idea-building as well as working through a track in stages, with controls for notes, rhythm and mix adjustments close at hand.

If you are choosing between a controller that focuses mainly on note entry and one with dedicated beat and mix controls, the FLkey 2 Mini 25 brings those tasks together for FL Studio. Its compact 25-key format is geared towards sketching ideas, while the pads, touch strips and mapped encoders expand how you can interact with a project. It suits you if you want a single controller for playing, sequencing and hands-on adjustments.

## Buying verdict

Choose the Novation FLkey 2 Mini 25 for a focused FL Studio setup that combines a playable mini keyboard with pads and mapped controls. It is well suited to building melodies and beats, creating patterns and making mix adjustments from one bus-powered USB MIDI controller.
