Melsan-MST003 Nylon Hook-and-Loop Fastener Tape, 2 x 6 in, Black

Each black strip measures 2 x 6 inches and is made from nylon. Melsan-MST003 is self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape that you can cut to suit a project. Its paired surfaces fasten together to help keep lightweight items in place without using tacks.

At a glance

The set contains six pairs of fastener strips. Apply the adhesive-backed pieces to a suitable surface, then press the hook and loop sides together to secure an item. The format is useful when you want a removable fastening method rather than a permanent fixture, and cutting the tape into smaller lengths lets you tailor the contact area to the job.

The product is listed for uses such as carpets, couch cushions and pedal boards, as well as organizing items around the home, school or office. The manufacturer also names photos, paintings, kitchen organization and tool organization as possible projects. For a small household task, for example, cut a piece to fit a cushion or carpet edge, attach the matching sides, and bring them together to hold the item in position.

Maintenance

The manufacturer recommends using a hair dryer or alcohol to help remove adhesive when taking the strips off. Follow the directions appropriate to the surface you are working with, particularly when removing adhesive from a finished wall or other delicate material.

Buyer feedback is positive about the fastener’s usefulness, but experiences with adhesive strength vary. Some buyers report a firm hold, while others describe adhesion weakening or softening in heat over time. This feedback is worth keeping in mind when deciding where to use adhesive-backed tape, especially for an item that will be handled often or exposed to warmth.

Usage tips

Cut the tape into the lengths your project needs rather than using a full strip for every attachment. Match the hook and loop faces before positioning the item, and use the product for the kinds of light-duty fastening and organization named by the manufacturer. It can suit a pedal board setup, couch cushions or a carpet project where a cut-to-fit connection is more practical than adding tacks.

For wall projects such as photos or tool organization, the adhesive-backed format offers a no-punch alternative to fastening with tacks. Consider the surface and the item’s placement as you plan the attachment, the tape is designed to hold through the paired hook-and-loop surfaces, while the adhesive fixes each side to its mounting surface.

Is it worth it?

Melsan-MST003 is a practical choice for projects that call for black, cut-to-size hook-and-loop tape in a 2 x 6 inch format. The six pairs give you several fastening points for home, school or office organization, while the nylon construction and self-adhesive backing make the strips straightforward to adapt to carpets, cushions, pedal boards and similar applications. Choose it when you want a flexible fastening approach without puncturing a surface, and when the convenience of repositionable hook-and-loop attachment suits the task.
