Masterpiece Mystery!: Grantchester Season 9 DVD, NTSC, 6 Hours 40 Minutes

The DVD-Video, NTSC format gives this season a place in a physical TV collection, while its 6 hours and 40 minutes of runtime offer several evenings of viewing. The story moves through a changing Grantchester in 1961, as Will looks for new challenges and Geordie and Cathy navigate Esme’s growing independence in a dangerous world.

A new vicar, Reverend Alphy Kottaram, arrives and is quickly taken with the village. The season’s appeal is in following these changing relationships and the new character alongside the established cast, rather than dipping into a single standalone story.

Key takeaways

This release collects Season 9 of Grantchester on DVD-Video in NTSC format. The listed runtime is 6 hours and 40 minutes, making it suitable for watching over several sessions or revisiting as part of a physical collection. Al Weaver, Rishi Nair, Robson Green, Tessa Peake-Jones and Tom Brittney are among the cast named in the product details.

The season’s setup offers both continuity and a shift in the village: Will is considering what comes next, while Geordie and Cathy face a new stage of family life, and Alphy’s arrival brings another perspective to Grantchester. Buyers’ comments are especially positive about the storytelling and ensemble, with some welcoming the newer characters. Those reactions may help if the cast and ongoing story are central to your interest, though they remain individual viewing opinions rather than a guarantee of how you’ll enjoy the season.

How to use it

This is a physical DVD release, so it suits viewers who want to watch the season from a disc and keep it with their other television titles. A practical way to approach the runtime is to spread the episodes across a few evenings, giving the continuing character threads room to develop. If you usually watch through a digital service or on a device without DVD playback, a disc may be less convenient than a digital viewing option.

Usage tips

Before choosing this edition, consider how you normally watch TV and whether DVD-Video in NTSC format fits your setup. The supplied details do not specify player compatibility or provide separate subtitle information, so avoid assuming options beyond the format listed. The English (Dolby Digital 5.1) entry appears under “Subtitles” in the details, because that label does not clearly distinguish subtitle from audio information, it is best not to rely on it as confirmation of a particular subtitle or sound setup.

Worth considering if you want Season 9 as a physical release and enjoy following an ensemble story across a changing village. If you prioritize immediate access without handling discs, a streaming or digital format may better suit your routine. You may want to skip it if you have no way to play DVD-Video and do not want to add a player or use another viewing setup.
