## Description

For podcasting, streaming or recording at a computer, the MAONO PD400X gives you a choice of USB and XLR connections. USB offers plug-and-play setup with a PC, while XLR lets you connect the microphone to a professional interface, mixer or portable PA system as your recording setup calls for it.

Its dynamic capsule and unidirectional pickup pattern are designed for voice use, and the onboard controls make common adjustments easy to reach while you record or broadcast.

## Usage tips
Connect by USB for a straightforward computer setup, or use the XLR output with compatible audio equipment. When using USB, MAONO LINK offers Standard and Advanced modes: choose a vocal tone and distance in Standard Mode, or adjust settings such as gain, monitor mix, EQ, limiter and compressor in Advanced Mode. This gives you practical ways to shape the microphone’s sound for a spoken-word recording or live stream.

The multifunction knob handles microphone gain, headphone volume and monitor mix. Use the tap-to-mute control when you need to silence the mic quickly, its LED indicator shows mute status. The headphone jack also lets you monitor audio from your recording setup. For a typical podcast session, connect the mic to your PC over USB, set your monitoring level with the knob, and mute between takes or while speaking off mic.

## Why it’s worth it
A USB-only mic is a simple fit for a computer-based setup. The PD400X adds an XLR output, so the same microphone can also connect to professional audio equipment. That flexibility is useful if you want to start with a direct USB connection and use a mixer or interface in another recording environment.

The physical controls help keep adjustments close at hand, while MAONO LINK provides additional sound-shaping options over USB. Buyers often highlight clear-sounding voice capture and straightforward setup, feedback is mixed on noise handling and reliability. The cardioid-style, unidirectional pickup pattern is intended to help reject unwanted background sound, making the mic relevant for home recording and streaming where room conditions can vary.

It suits you if you want one dynamic microphone for spoken audio across podcasting, recording, broadcasting, streaming or gaming, with both USB and XLR connection options.
