Adjust your picking or guitar volume to move between cleaner sounds and warmer drive. Three straightforward controls—Volume, Gain and Tone—make it easy to shape the sound without navigating menus. The Tone control ranges from warm and rounded to brighter, more cutting presence. Ambient LEDs along the front and rear edges add a distinctive look, while bypass switching manages the signal when the pedal is disengaged. Its compact 10.9 x 6.7 x 4.8 cm, 248 g design suits a pedalboard setup. ## At a glance The Tauren is an analogue guitar effects pedal for overdrive, with a sound range described as extending from clean boost to warm drive and distortion. Used as a boost, it adds drive with little tonal coloration, increasing Gain provides a broader range of overdrive tones. This makes it useful for shaping a responsive drive sound with familiar amp and guitar controls rather than relying on menus or complex settings. Volume sets the output, Gain adjusts the amount of drive, and Tone helps tailor the overall character. For example, a player can lower the guitar’s volume for a cleaner passage, then pick more firmly or bring the volume back up for a warmer, more sustained overdrive. The bypass switch provides straightforward signal management when the effect is off. The front and rear ambient LED lighting is adjustable, so the pedal’s appearance can be suited to a bedroom, studio or stage setup. Power is supplied externally at DC 9V, centre negative, the pedal has no battery compartment, and the power supply is not included. Use a compatible, reliable supply that meets the pedal’s requirements. ## Getting the most from it Start with the Gain control at a setting that supports the part you are playing, then use Tone to move between a rounder sound and added brightness. Volume can help set the pedal’s output in relation to the rest of your signal chain. These controls are practical for players who want one pedal to cover a cleaner boost, lower-gain drive and a more pronounced overdrive character. The metal die-cast aluminium alloy housing and compact footprint make the Tauren easy to place alongside other pedals. Its responsive character also gives picking dynamics and guitar-volume adjustments a role in shaping the sound, rather than requiring a different preset for every change. Buyers frequently highlight its overdrive, transparent character and sound quality, describing the pedal as satisfying for shaping their guitar tone. ## Who it’s for The Tauren suits guitarists looking for an overdrive pedal with a direct, hands-on control layout and a range that can move from boost to warmer drive. It is a practical fit for rehearsals, studio sessions or live pedalboard use when quick adjustments to gain, output and tone are useful. Players seeking several drive characters from one compact pedal can shape them with its three knobs and their playing dynamics. Compared with an effects unit built around menus and multiple parameters, this pedal keeps tone shaping to Volume, Gain and Tone. That simpler approach is useful when you want to make adjustments by hand between songs or while setting up a sound, without stepping away from the guitar. It suits you if preserving the guitar’s character while adding responsive drive is central to your sound. ## Buying verdict Choose the JOYO Tauren R-01 for hands-on overdrive that responds to picking and guitar-volume changes, with controls that make its drive and tone easy to shape. Its compact aluminium housing, bypass switching and adjustable ambient LEDs bring practical pedalboard details to a pedal designed for clean boost through warm overdrive. For players building a flexible guitar signal chain around an expressive, straightforward drive pedal, it offers a clear set of controls for everyday playing and performance. ## Images ![JOYO Tauren R-01 Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Touch-Sensitive Drive and Ambient LEDs — 1](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/6QIevFaAzvb4FMZgOLSDlj-gBZ9F_Rd0wfkN7a7bMaQoTeVtju_4nQRZWF_I0QJs7FHh31h6WGZdn9uzllaHcMtSn8L22nd7esRPJP63MVQybRvRldBXr6tEOw.jpg) ![JOYO Tauren R-01 Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Touch-Sensitive Drive and Ambient LEDs — 2](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/36XA6tGw1jaeqH1cnuqlk1oV_4LRCT4SZswCNQLouV17x16QHzvS4m85ZWtyUpC_c65nBgH3eaHie7lBj5kNCEfd6aqZDA21jM_edaECK3uVLwwBqqCZx4w0ng.jpg) ![JOYO Tauren R-01 Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Touch-Sensitive Drive and Ambient LEDs — 3](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/qFPCSyA44Jr1u9HJ1eBaHeKd-z3yEVEWqTls0W0tYNxjJtfAiYkJ9rYGAXfQwEbCfDs54weWpAyW99AON_6sHJjkOVgK4GmUpc25YNDvetJEks8fN4gM9z3Dug.jpg) ![JOYO Tauren R-01 Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Touch-Sensitive Drive and Ambient LEDs — 4](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/FnS_dQSteHL3EMLvXusGgKoyvqVxLhJmDfT9k0VbpjdvNDDrijZNjtBsfNcHsKn2TOGXEEe09lfDMnHN5-hB7rWc-LHH03w3_Bp-sZJw0fthvjF-KIc36iOn9g.jpg) ![JOYO Tauren R-01 Overdrive Guitar Pedal with Touch-Sensitive Drive and Ambient LEDs — 5](https://www.ofertitastop.com/i/buy1QVolFqUtiQEG8TTvFR2dKVNJ5ymV0iK8cWmQXxA0Vl20JozklyjQn2BCO1jttOZhlIIWFIk8zkHBVsgoIcbI3nUm1cxCWYPSILCNYjWIAz9MBDRkwXrhlA.jpg)
