## Description

For cooling a living room or another medium-sized space, the GE APWA14YBMW brings 14,000 BTU of cooling in a portable format. It’s designed for rooms up to 550 square feet, and built-in Wi-Fi lets you control and monitor the unit through the SmartHQ app.

A digital LED display keeps settings easy to see, while the included remote lets you make adjustments from across the room. The white finish suits a range of interiors.

## Highlights

This air conditioner combines app-connected control with straightforward on-unit operation. Use the SmartHQ app to adjust and monitor it from elsewhere, or use the LED controls and remote when you’re in the room. Want to change a setting without getting up? The remote makes that simple.

Its auto-evaporation feature handles excess water in most room conditions, reducing the need to drain the unit as part of routine use. A dust filter and fast-cooling feature round out the practical details for day-to-day cooling. The unit measures 39.4D x 47W x 81.3H centimetres and weighs 31.98 kg, useful details when planning where it will sit.

## Quick sizing guide

The 14,000 BTU capacity is intended for spaces up to 550 square feet, with the living room listed as a suitable room type. Use the room’s approximate floor area as a starting point when deciding whether this capacity suits your space. In a larger open area, consider the size of the full space you want to cool rather than just the area around the unit.

This portable model is worth considering if you want a cooling unit that isn’t a permanently installed room air conditioner. Its corded-electric power source is rated at 115 volts, position it where the portable format works for your room and routine.

## Everyday use

The combination of app access, a remote and visible digital controls gives you several ways to manage cooling through the day. For example, you can use the app to monitor the unit when you’re away from it, then make a quick adjustment with the remote once you’re back in the living room. The cooling mode, dust filter and auto evaporation are geared towards regular room use without making basic controls complicated.

Buyer feedback often highlights cooling and functionality, while some customers describe the operating noise as noticeable. Feedback on power is mixed, and some buyers also report reliability concerns. These are individual customer experiences rather than performance guarantees, but they may help set expectations for everyday use.

## Before you decide

**What size room is this model designed for?** Its 14,000 BTU cooling capacity is listed for rooms up to 550 square feet, making that area a useful guide when comparing cooling capacity with your room.

**Can I control it without using the controls on the unit?** Yes. Built-in Wi-Fi supports control and monitoring through the SmartHQ app, and an air conditioner remote is included for adjustments from elsewhere in the room.

**Does it need to be drained during use?** The auto-evaporation feature evaporates excess water in most room conditions, so routine draining isn’t needed in those conditions.

## Buying verdict

Choose the GE APWA14YBMW for portable cooling in a room up to 550 square feet, with the added convenience of Wi-Fi app control, a remote and a clear LED display. It’s a practical fit for someone who wants several ways to manage living-room comfort and an auto-evaporation feature for everyday operation.
