Gbnryg Metal Detector with 12-inch Coil
Product description
Best use cases
It can be frustrating to sweep a patch of beach or lawn without knowing whether a signal is a coin, jewellery or just unwanted metal. The Gbnryg metal detector is designed to make those searches more directed, with five detection modes, adjustable sensitivity and a waterproof search coil for beach walks and shallow-water searches. Its backlit LCD is useful when the light is fading, while the included headphones let you listen for signals without relying only on the display. For a first detector or casual outdoor outings, the kit approach means you also get a digger and backpack to take along.
Picture scanning a stretch of sand, switching to a mode that suits what you hope to find, then using pinpoint mode to narrow down where to dig. That is a more focused approach than using an all-metal setting for every sweep, though learning what the different signals mean will still take practice. Fits you if you want several search modes and accessories for recreational treasure hunting. Not for you if you need a detector you can submerge completely: the coil is rated IP68, but the control unit is not waterproof.
Product specs

The modes offer different ways to approach a search: All Metal alerts you to any metal, while Disc is intended to help ignore unwanted finds. Memory mode focuses on a selected metal type, Jewellery mode targets jewellery, and PP helps narrow down a target before digging. The manufacturer says its DSP chip improves detection accuracy, but the listing does not provide independent test results, so treat performance claims as guidance rather than a guarantee. The product information also gives different adjustable-stem ranges in the name and description, check the supplied specifications before choosing it for a particular user’s height.
Where it shines
The main appeal is flexibility without having to assemble a separate set of basic accessories. A beginner can start with broad detection, then try Disc or Jewellery mode as their search becomes more specific. Sensitivity adjustment may also help reduce unwanted beeps, while the volume settings give some control over listening in different surroundings. The detector has a stated memory function, so it can retain settings between uses rather than requiring a full reset each time.
Compared with a simpler detector that only alerts to metal, the five modes give you more ways to narrow your search. The trade-off is that more settings can mean a little more trial and error, and the waterproof rating applies only to the coil—not the screen or controls. That distinction matters on a beach: shallow-water use may suit the coil, but keep the control unit out of the water.
Final decision
The Gbnryg is worth considering for casual coin and jewellery searches if you want a backlit screen, several modes and a ready-to-carry kit. The included digger and backpack make a practical difference when you plan to walk between search spots rather than stay in one place. It is a less suitable match if you need a fully waterproof detector or want performance backed by detailed independent testing. Before buying, confirm the adjustable length in the current product specifications, since the provided listing shows conflicting ranges.
