FLCODE Shag Rug 5x8

For anyone furnishing a bedroom, living room, nursery or kids’ room, this grey FLCODE shag rug puts softness underfoot ahead of a flat, easy-to-ignore floor covering.

Its long plush pile is intended to feel cosy and help keep feet away from a cold floor. The listing also says the rug can reduce noise, though it gives no measured sound rating.

The practical trade-off is upkeep: the deep pile calls for more care than a low-profile rug, especially when it needs a thorough clean. It suits you if a soft surface for a bedside or play area matters more than quick, effortless maintenance.

Technical details

The rug is described as mechanically woven polyester, with 1.57-inch plush and a 7mm high-density base. Its grey colour and 5x8 size are stated in the product name. A thickened felt backing has small anti-slip points intended to increase grip on the floor and help protect wooden floors from scratches.

The manufacturer describes it as resistant to shedding and fading, and suitable for everyday indoor areas, including rooms with regular foot traffic. Those are product claims rather than a guarantee for every floor or household. The listing doesn’t give a total weight, care label details beyond the cleaning instructions, or a tested slip-resistance rating, so the backing should not be treated as a substitute for checking how it sits on your own flooring.

Getting the most from it

Think of this as a comfort-first accent rug, rather than a thin mat you can shake out in seconds. Beside a bed, its plush surface gives you a softer landing in the morning, in a child’s room, it creates a defined spot for sitting or playing. For a space where chairs roll frequently or crumbs are a daily concern, a shorter pile may be easier to manage.

There’s no named flooring compatibility beyond the suggestion that the backing can help protect wood. The grip can depend on the surface beneath it, so lay the rug flat and check that it stays in place before using it in a busy walkway. The listing also mentions other colours and sizes, but the product name identifies this version as grey and 5x8.

Usage tips

For routine care, the instructions recommend a handheld vacuum. For a mark, wipe with a damp cloth, for a deeper clean, hand washing is presented as the gentler approach. Machine washing is also listed, but only on a gentle cycle and separately. Air-dry the rug and don’t bleach it.

That care routine is worth weighing against the plush pile: it may feel inviting under bare feet, but it’s not the simplest choice if you want to put a rug through frequent heavy-duty cleaning. The listing says kids and pets can use it, but it doesn’t specify stain resistance or provide cleaning guidance for particular spills.

Three specific questions

Is it intended for a bedroom or living room? Yes. The product description names both, along with kids’ rooms, nurseries and dorm rooms.

Can it go in a washing machine? The listed instructions allow a separate, gentle machine wash. Hand washing is also suggested to help the rug last longer, air-dry it and don’t bleach it.

Does it have a non-slip backing? It has felt backing with small anti-slip points, described as adding friction. No slip test or flooring-specific guarantee is provided.

Before buying

Choose this rug if a fluffy, grey floor covering for a bedroom or a defined sitting area is the priority, and you’re comfortable following its care instructions. It may not suit you if you need a low-pile surface that’s simple to clean after frequent messes, or if you require a verified grip rating for a particular floor. Check that the stated 5x8 size fits the space you have in mind, the listing doesn’t provide further dimensions or a rug weight.
