## Description

Choosing an impact wrench often comes down to the fastening work at hand: lighter tasks call for a different approach than stubborn, heavy-duty fasteners. The DEWALT DCF900B is built for demanding applications, with a 1/2-inch drive and up to 1,030 ft-lbs of fastening torque.

Its 1,400 ft-lbs of maximum breakaway torque is suited to loosening tight fasteners, while the cordless 20V MAX format keeps the tool free of a power cord during work around vehicles, equipment and job sites.

Four speed settings, a variable-speed trigger and Precision Wrench Control give you more control as the task changes. The battery and charger are sold separately.

## Pros

The combination of high fastening and breakaway torque makes this impact wrench useful for jobs such as wheel lugs, large pipe flanges, grooved couplings and concrete anchor bolt setting. Rather than relying on a single speed, you can select from four modes and use the variable-speed trigger to adjust the tool’s action to the work. What helps when a fastener needs substantial force but still calls for controlled handling? Precision Wrench Control is designed to help prevent overtightening in forward and fastener run-off in reverse.

A hog ring anvil supports quick socket changes, a practical benefit when moving between fasteners. BATTERYGUARD uses a shock-absorbing connection between the battery and tool, designed to help reduce battery wear while you work. Buyers often praise the wrench’s power for removing lug nuts and other demanding fasteners. Some also find it heavy, and feedback on durability is mixed, so these comments are best treated as individual experiences rather than guarantees.

## Quick overview

- Type: Cordless high-torque impact wrench

## Practical tips

For a vehicle wheel or heavy equipment fastener, choose a suitable 1/2-inch socket, select a speed mode appropriate to the task and use the trigger to manage the tool as the fastener moves. Precision Wrench Control adds support for controlled tightening and loosening, while the hog ring makes socket changes straightforward. Match the socket to the fastener and follow the equipment or fastener manufacturer’s guidance for final tightening. As this is a tool-only version, plan to use a compatible 20V MAX battery and charger separately.

## Buying verdict

The DCF900B is a focused choice for users who regularly handle tight or large fasteners and want substantial cordless torque with several speed settings and added control features. Its 1/2-inch hog ring drive suits common heavy-duty impact wrench tasks, from wheel lugs to pipe and anchor applications. Choose it when the work calls for a high-torque tool that can move between forceful fastening and controlled operation.
