## Description

## What stands out

At 10.4 x 5.1 x 10.4 centimetres, Brass Monkey Debatable Holiday Edition is a card-based social game with a compact format and 400 holiday-themed topics. The prompts turn familiar seasonal opinions into conversation starters, from whether Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie to the merits of fresh versus canned cranberry sauce. Made with cardstock cards, it gives a group an easy way to get a festive discussion going around the table.

Designed for two or more players, the game is about taking a position, explaining it and hearing what everyone else thinks. Its focus stays on light-hearted holiday traditions rather than politics or religion, which helps keep the conversation centred on the season. It’s a lively alternative to an activity that asks guests to sit quietly or concentrate on a more involved set of game rules.

## Key points

The 400 topics give the group plenty of prompts to draw on during a party or holiday get-together. A question about gifts, food or seasonal customs can quickly bring different opinions into the open, giving quieter moments a natural starting point and helping guests find common ground—or friendly disagreement. Players can make their case, challenge another point of view and enjoy the discussion without needing a quiz format or a single correct answer.

The game is intended for ages 13 and up and works indoors. It is manually operated and requires no batteries, so play stays centred on the cards and the people around them. The item weighs 145 g and measures 10.4 x 5.1 x 10.4 centimetres. For a gathering where conversation is the main event, that card-prompt approach offers a different kind of group activity from a board game focused on strategy or a clear winner.

## Who it’s for

This edition suits hosts looking for a seasonal activity that can bring family or friends into the same conversation, as well as anyone choosing a small, occasion-specific gift for a holiday host. With play for two or more, it can work for a pair as well as a larger group, the prompts give everyone a shared subject to react to, while still leaving room for individual opinions. The recommended age of 13 and up makes it appropriate for teen and adult gatherings.

It makes sense if you want a game that creates conversation rather than asking players to learn a lengthy ruleset. A prompt about peanut brittle or practical Christmas gifts can be enough to get people explaining their preferences, swapping traditions and laughing at how differently they see the same custom. The appeal is in the discussion, not in collecting points or reaching a definitive answer.

## When it makes sense

Bring Debatable Holiday Edition to a seasonal party, a family visit or a casual indoor get-together when you want an activity that people can join through conversation. The holiday-specific topics help give the group an immediate theme, and the 400 prompts make it easy to keep the discussion moving from one seasonal opinion to another. It’s particularly suited to hosts who want a playful way to get guests talking without turning the gathering into a competitive contest. For a festive table where friendly debate is part of the fun, the card format and broad choice of holiday topics provide a clear reason to bring this game into the mix.
