## Description

For a relaxed evening with character-led television, As Time Goes By follows Lionel and Jean as they reconnect after being separated by life in the early 1950s and try to rekindle their long-lost love. Starring Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer, this newly remastered Volume One brings the first three seasons together in one DVD collection.

Four discs provide 10 hours and 53 minutes of English-language viewing, making the set well suited to settling in for several episodes at a time.

## What stands out

The appeal centres on Lionel and Jean’s reunion and the warmth and wit of their story. Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer lead the series, giving this collection a clear focus on its two central characters as their relationship develops. The remastered edition brings the first three seasons together, so viewers can follow the story across the included seasons in one set rather than assembling them individually.

Want a little more than the episodes themselves? The set also includes “Time to Remember: Part One,” an interview with Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. It offers an additional feature connected directly to the stars of the series, rounding out a collection made for fans of the show as well as viewers discovering it for the first time.

## The essentials

This is a DVD-Video release in NTSC format, with English listed as the language. The four-disc set has a total runtime of 10 hours and 53 minutes, giving you a substantial collection for home viewing. Choose a DVD setup that supports NTSC DVD-Video to watch the discs. The Canadian Home Video Rating is Ages 14 and over.

As a drama with a witty, heart-warming story, it suits an evening when you want to follow familiar characters over multiple episodes. The collected format also makes it straightforward to continue from one season to the next without switching between separate season sets. The bonus interview adds a further point of interest for anyone who enjoys hearing from the performers behind the central roles.

## Who it’s for

This collection is a natural fit for viewers who enjoy relationship-focused drama and comedy, especially those drawn to the on-screen pairing of Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. It also works for fans looking to revisit the opening three seasons in a single purchase, while the remastered edition and included interview give returning viewers extra reasons to choose this release over a set containing episodes alone. For a first-time viewer, the seasons collected in Volume One provide a convenient way to begin with Lionel and Jean’s story and follow their reunion through the series.

## Should you buy it?

Choose this set if you want the first three seasons of As Time Goes By together on DVD, with the series’ central romance, performances by Dench and Palmer, and a related bonus interview all in one collection. Its four-disc format and substantial runtime make it a practical choice for home viewing across multiple sittings, whether you’re revisiting the show or getting to know Lionel and Jean for the first time.
