Who it’s for
This audiobook may appeal to listeners drawn to a carefully written, suspenseful narrative. Customer feedback highlights the clever, twist-filled story, its intrigue and character development, as well as du Maurier’s writing. Some listeners also enjoy how the ending connects with the beginning, so it may suit those who like to reflect on how a narrative comes together.
Pacing is the main point of difference in those reactions: some listeners find it engaging, while others feel it moves slowly. That makes it a less certain match if you mainly want a fast-moving listen. A solid pick if you’re comfortable with a longer, unabridged story and value suspense and writing over a brisk pace.
Usage tips
At 13 hours and 2 minutes, the recording can be approached in shorter sessions rather than as a single sitting. Keeping your place between listens can help if you’re fitting it around a commute, household tasks or quiet time, those are practical ways to use an audiobook, not requirements of this title.
Compared with choosing an abridged recording for a shorter commitment, this unabridged edition prioritises the complete work. It’s not for you if you specifically want a brief listen, though the length alone doesn’t determine whether the pacing will suit you. Customer responses differ on that point.
